A graduate of Virginia Tech, Nancy started her career in the Information Technology industry over 23 years ago. She “fell” into the business after several years as a legislative aide for a congressman on Capitol Hill. By answering an ad for a technical recruiter, Nancy started on the road to a very different career from the executive branch of the government.

Through hard work, several companies and mentors later, Nancy acquired a thorough understanding of the IT consulting industry in management, sales and recruiting. After her last position, as director of commercial systems, Nancy decided to start a company that would cater to a smaller group of clients and build a boutique consulting and career placement business.

In 1995, Nancy formed The Squires Group, Inc. and the company is currently experiencing unprecedented growth in business. Nancy provides the strategic direction, concentrates on the financial infrastructure and focuses on core systems management at The Squires Group.

A magna cum laude graduate from the College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, Eric has over 35 years experience in the staff-augmentation and IT consulting business. Eric started his career with Temps & Company where he spent seven years learning all facets of the business. Following Temps & Co., Eric spent another seven years with Registry/Renaissance, an IT Consulting Firm. As Vice President of Business Development, he led his team to bring in more than $70M in revenue.

Prior to joining The Squires Group, Eric spent two years starting up a healthcare staffing business. At The Squires Group, Eric is responsible for all aspects of operations, including managing sales, business development, recruiting efforts and streamlining internal processes. Eric also participates in The Squires Group’s structural decisions, scope, strategic planning and forecasting efforts.

An engineer and an MBA from Bombay University, Apurva has specialized in developing and implementing marketing strategies in the B2B environment for the last 26 years. Since joining TSGi, Apurva quickly developed a solid understanding of all the aspects of a staffing business by working closely with Eric. Apurva’s unique blend of analytical and creative skills allows him to be a change leader and a key influencer in the areas of operational process improvement, marketing and proposal development, financial analyses and strategy development, and solving critical business problems.

Apurva’s first experience with TSGi was in May 2000, when Nancy placed him in a marketing role with an e-commerce company in 2000. Apurva and Nancy stayed in touch with each other over the next few years before Apurva joined TSGi as a marketing manager in 2004.

Ed brings to The Squires Group over twelve years of finance & accounting executive staffing experience with a boutique staffing company in the DC metro area. Prior to that, Ed worked five years with CoStar Group, a commercial real estate intelligence firm. Ed’s vast experience working in a variety of financial industries (real estate, private equity, and investment management) helps us expand our network of candidates and clients as we continue to grow our accounting & finance practice.

Ed grew up in upstate New York and played baseball, football and rugby. He is a graduate of SUNY Cortland. Ed’s competitive nature is ideal for the role as Director to the sales team.

Currently, Ed resides in the Annapolis area with his wife and son. They enjoy spending time together watching sports, going to festivals, and going on hikes.

Julie joins The Squires Group as a Senior Resource Manager. She has a bachelor of science degree in Business Management from University of South Carolina, Coastal Carolina. She brings over 25 years of experience in resource management, sales, and account management. Initially, she started her career as a recruiter for a professional services firm and was quickly given the opportunity to start their PeopleSoft Federal Practice. Julie has experience working with federal and commercial clients implementing a broad range of technologies and providing professional services, including PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Data Management Solutions, Portal & Collaboration, and SharePoint.

Julie is originally from Northern Virginia. She recently crossed the river and now lives in Ellicott City with her husband and daughter.

Jane is a Baltimore native and a graduate of the University of Baltimore. Jane joined The Squires Group in 2006 bringing a depth of knowledge and passion for recruiting to our organization. She began her career focused on Accounting and Finance and transitioned into the IT sector while working for one of the Nation’s Top Tier Accounting Firms. With over 30+ years of experience, in her role as the Director of Resource Management, Jane is committed to making sure our clients find the talent they need while also ensuring that our consultants advance their careers. You will see her contribute on social media advising candidates on how to approach their search for the right opportunity.

Mike joined The Squires Group more than 10 years ago and has over 35 years of financial management, strategic planning, cost analysis and accounting experience – not to mention 28 years of government contracting experience. Mike has an MBA in finance from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in economics from the University of Maryland. He’s local to the Annapolis area, a passionate water skier and enjoys riding his bike. He also enjoys boating and racquetball.

Caroline joined The Squires Group Inc in the fall of 2023. As a graduate of James Madison University, her love for people naturally led her in the direction of staffing where she could positively impact their careers. While newer to the industry, she arrives with a fresh perspective and a wealth of experience which is deeply rooted in Federal and Commercial IT contract and perm recruiting. Her project and technical recruiting knowledge span a wide range of needs across application development, system design, system administration, information system security, technology support, and project and program management.

Based on her success as a recruiter, Caroline developed a desire to be client facing, where she could further build relationships and leverage her expertise to provide exceptional recruitment solutions to clients.

Caroline currently resides in Reston, VA with her fiancé and overly spoiled puppy, Luna. Born and raised in the DC suburbs, she has strong familiarity with the region and its forever growing impact in the IT space. You can catch her watching anything D.C. sports, tending to her houseplants, or adventuring out to try new foods.

An Annapolis-area native and McDaniel College alum, Lara enhanced The Squires Group’s ERP, finance and HR staffing teams by bringing over 17+ years of recruiting experience. Lara has a competitive spirit and amazing attention to detail, which is why she is our lead in the training and development of our Resource Management Team. She also keeps our social media sites buzzing with interesting opportunities and words of wisdom.

From her prior tenure with Ingenium Corporation, as a Corporate Recruiter/HR Specialist and FSO, Lara developed a strong network of technical professionals throughout the cleared community and continues to utilize her network to make successful placements here at Squires.  Lara’s full life cycle recruiting expertise and ability to match skilled professionals to meet our client’s needs, through relationship development of both clients and candidates, makes her an essential asset to The Squires Group Team.

In addition to Lara’s technical recruiting experience, she developed a financial and accounting network while working with Accountants International.  Lara has managed a high volume of positions and placed individuals from CFO to accounting/clerical level positions both contractually and on a direct hire basis.  Lara has placed professionals in a wide array of industries, including Federal, State and Local Government Agencies, Not-For-Profits, Healthcare, Government Contracting, Fortune 500 companies and small local businesses.

Lara also sits on the Board of Washington, D.C. Oracle Applications Users Group (DCOAUG) as the Outreach and Social Media Coordinator where she manages DCOAUG’s social media channels and content.

Lara and her husband currently reside in Severna Park, MD with their Shih Tzu dogs, Lucy and Sadie.

Jason joined The Squires Group in 2024 as a Resource Manager. He graduated from the University of Mary Washington where he not only obtained a solid academic foundation but also played on the University’s soccer team. Prior to college, Jason was very active in sports to include soccer, basketball and track. His athletic background instilled in him essential qualities such as teamwork, resilience, goal orientation, and grit which he now leverages in his recruitment endeavors.

Jason has supported clients in the private and public sectors and over time, has built a strong network with IT professionals. He brings a unique blend of business savvy, athletic discipline, and a passion for recruiting. He is dedicated to facilitating mutually beneficial partnerships and driving success for both our candidates and clients alike.

Jason resides in Virginia and enjoys fitness, trying new restaurants, hanging out with friends and watching movies.

Cathy has more than 26 years of administrative experience. She supports the Account Management and Resource Management teams, is one of the smiling voices you’ll hear when calling the office and is the go-to person who can do it all internally for Team Squires! An avid sports fan, Cathy and her family live in Pasadena, MD.

Amy brings more than 23 years’ experience as an executive/personal assistant working for companies like Legal Sea Foods, Frito Lay and Arnold Worldwide to Squires. She also has over 11 years of experience working as our Facilities Security Officer (FSO). Amy is a graduate of Salisbury University and lives in Annapolis with her husband, daughter, and Boxer.

After graduating from the University of Maryland, Joanne worked for Martin Marietta and completed the Manufacturing Development Program which encompassed all phases of manufacturing. From there she moved to Northrop Grumman as an industrial engineer and worked in the Manufacturing and Software Services Division, developing a commercial material procurement strategy. She had the lead responsibility for developing material and labor quotes for new business proposals. Joanne joins The Squires Group after taking time off to raise her children. Her role is to assist Nancy in a wide variety of activities.

Joanne is a native Maryland resident and currently resides in Millersville with her husband and three children.

Jan Upton-Lloyd, a native Californian, joined Nancy Squires and the fledgling Squires Group in 1996 as its first employee. She was our original bookkeeper and she also joined Nancy in recruiting and account management. Jan is an avid reader who has developed a healthy global perspective. This has helped her connect with candidates and clients from all parts of the world.

Jan was in this role until her husband, Kevin, retired from the Annapolis City police force in 2003 and they moved to the mountains of western Maryland and then Pennsylvania. Since 2005, Jan has been the owner of a seasonal antique store, River’s Edge Antiques in Confluence, PA.

Jan recently rejoined the Squires Group on a part-time basis doing reference checks and helping Apurva in developing marketing collateral that gets published on our corporate website.

Jan enjoys seeking out antiques and collectibles for the store and her Etsy shop by attending auctions and estate sales.
